Getting started

Joining, verification, first steps

What is Calmhaven?

Calmhaven is a Discord community that launched in October 2023, built for gamers, artists, anime fans, editors and streamers. This website is its companion: it shows the team, the media wall, live chat, leaderboards and your own wallet, using the same accounts and progress as the server.

How do I join the server?

Use the permanent invite: discord.gg/ECy3hK9TqR. Joining is free, and the homepage carries the same link on the Join Our Community button.

I joined but most channels are hidden. Why?

New members start without the Verified role, and most channels are only open to verified members. The Verification channel keeps a verification panel up at all times, powered by One-Tap; complete it and the rest of the server opens.

The bot nudges anyone still unverified twice a day, at 08:00 and 20:00 Europe/Berlin time. If you finished verification and still cannot see channels, open a support ticket and staff will look at it.

What should I do once I am verified?

Read #Rules, pick your extras in #Role Assignment, and introduce yourself in #Introductions. The #Perks channel lists what the server offers, and #Level System and #Leaderboard explain progression if you want the long version.

Do I need an account for this website?

Browsing is open — the homepage, team, media wall and chat are readable without signing in. Sign in with Discord when you want to do something as yourself: post or like media, use the website chat with your identity, edit your profile, open the wallet and shop, or keep a support ticket in your inbox.

02

Website & accounts

Sign-in, profiles, avatars

How does sign-in work?

Sign-in is Discord OAuth2: you press Login, Discord asks you to approve, and you come back to the page you were on. Calmhaven never asks for a password and never stores one — the site only ever talks to Discord for identity.

Do I have to link my Discord account to the website?

There is no separate linking step. Signing in with Discord is the link, and your website identity is the same account: your economy balance, levels, inventory and birthday all follow your Discord user id.

Anything that belongs to the server still requires you to be a member of it. If you have left Calmhaven, the wallet, role shop and leaderboards refuse the action until you rejoin.

What can I customise on my profile?

Open the account menu and choose Edit profile. You can set:

  • a display nickname for Calmhaven surfaces, up to 32 characters;
  • a website avatar from a PNG, JPEG, WebP or GIF, with a one-click Use Discord avatar to go back;
  • your server nickname inside Discord, which is the nickname members see there.
Does the website change my Discord avatar?

No. Your Discord account avatar belongs to Discord and a website cannot rewrite it with OAuth. The website avatar only changes how you appear on calmhaven.art cards, chat and comments; Discord keeps showing your server or account avatar.

Can members set a profile banner?

Banners on this site belong to the crew and supporter cards in the Team section, which are maintained alongside the staff list. Members do not upload banners for their own profile today.

How do I sign out or cut the website's access?

Sign out in the account menu ends the session on this browser. To revoke the website's access to your Discord account entirely, open Discord → User Settings → Authorized Apps and remove the Calmhaven application there.

03

Roles, rules & staff

Self-serve roles, applications, getting help

Where do I read the rules and the perks?

The full text lives in #Rules and #Perks on Discord. The same two documents are mirrored in the menu drawer on this site, so you can read them without opening Discord.

How do I pick up colour and interest roles?

In #Role Assignment the bot keeps panels of clickable roles. One click adds the role, clicking the same button again removes it, and nothing there costs coins. Roles that cost coins are covered in Purchasable Discord roles.

Which roles do I get automatically?

Server level roles are granted at levels 3, 10, 25, 50, 75, 100, 120, 140, 160, 180 and 200. Only the highest one you have earned is kept, so leveling up replaces the old badge instead of stacking it.

A one-day birthday role appears on your birthday, and server boosters hold the booster role, which also unlocks the role shop for free.

How do I apply to be staff?

Go to #Staff Applications and use the buttons there: Apply To Staff or Apply To Event Manager. Each opens the matching form. Read the posted requirements first.

How do I contact a moderator or report someone?

Open a ticket in #Support Tickets on Discord, or use Contact support in the account menu on this site: pick a category, add a subject, describe what happened. Both routes reach the same queue, and you can follow your ticket in your inbox.

Who the staff are is public: the Team section and #Meet the Staff list the crew with their roles.

What does boosting the server do?

Boosts raise the server tier and are thanked publicly in #Boosters. For you personally, the booster role also makes every purchasable role free while the boost is active.

What is the starboard?

When a message collects 3 reactions of the same kind, the bot copies it to the starboard channel and updates the count as more reactions arrive. If the reactions drop back below three, the entry is removed. Some channels are excluded, so not everything can be starred.

04

Levels & progression

Chat XP, voice XP, level roles

There are two different levels?

Yes, and they are easy to mix up:

  • Server level grows from talking in chat and being in voice. That is what /rank shows and what grants level roles.
  • Economy level grows from the coin systems: working, claiming rewards, shopping, gifting. That is what /balance shows and what gates the better jobs and shop items.

Advancing in one does not advance the other.

How fast does my server level grow?

Each qualifying message gives 35 XP, plus 15 more when the message is longer than 30 characters, plus 1 XP for every 100 messages you have sent. Only one message counts every 20 seconds, so spamming does not help.

Voice adds 20 XP per minute, credited every three minutes.

How much XP does each level cost?

The price per level rises in bands: 200 XP up to level 9, 500 to level 24, 800 to level 49, 1000 to level 99, 2000 to level 149 and 3000 after that. Level 200 is the ceiling, and XP stops counting once you reach it.

I do not want to be pinged when I level up.

Every level-up card posted in the levels channel carries a button that toggles your own pings: Disable Notifications or Enable Notifications. The card is still posted; only the mention disappears.

Can I level up from the website too?

Three website actions move your server level, and each one is capped at a single level per day so activity cannot be farmed:

  • Daily level claim — one level every 24 hours, from the Daily Level row in the wallet menu at the top of the site, next to the daily coin claim. The row counts down to the next one.
  • A post on the media wall — publishing earns a level, once per day. More posts the same day still reach the wall; they just add no level.
  • Website chat — two of your own messages in the public chat earn a level, once per day. Room chat is not counted, and deleted messages never were.

The day is worked out in Europe/Berlin time, the same day the birthday run uses. All three write to the same leveling store as Discord chat XP, so a level gained here shows up in /rank on Discord, and the site tells you the moment one lands.

A level earned on the website is also posted in the server's levels channel, the same card a chat level-up produces, saying which website action earned it. The mute button on that card is the one switch — it covers website awards and Discord ones alike, and the card is posted either way.

Which post or which messages counted is decided by what the server stored, not by what the browser claims, and the level itself is granted only by the bot.

How does the economy level work?

Economy XP comes from the money systems: a shift pays roughly a tenth of what you earned, the daily, weekly and monthly claims add a slice of the reward, and purchases and gifts each add their own. The curve gets steeper as you climb, and every level-up pays level × 150 coins and sends a congratulatory DM.

That same level is the gate on jobs and shop items: a job or item you are not leveled for is refused, with the missing level named.

If your direct messages are closed, the level-up DM is skipped. The coins and the level are still credited.

05

Coins & the shop

Earning, spending, limits

What is the currency and how much can I hold?

The economy runs on Coins. They are earned in-server and have no cash value: nothing on Calmhaven asks you to buy coins with real money, and Patreon support is a separate thing that grants donor roles, not coins. A balance tops out at 50,000,000 coins, and anything above that is cut off at the cap.

How do I earn coins?
  • /work once every 30 minutes pays a random amount inside your job range.
  • /daily pays 5,000 and grows by 5% for each claim in a row, up to a double reward after 20 consecutive days.
  • /weekly pays 20,000 every 7 days and /monthly pays 80,000 every 30 days.
  • /achievements lists milestones that pay out when you reach them, from the first shift to a millionaire balance.
  • Economy level-ups pay level × 150, and selling items from your inventory returns coins.
How do jobs work and which one should I pick?

/job list shows the roles, /job info explains one and /job choose takes it. Each job has an economy level requirement and a pay range: Artist and Farmer open at level 1, while the top tiers need real progress — CEO unlocks at economy level 25 and pays 4,000–8,000 per shift.

Some shop items boost specific jobs: a fishing rod adds 20% for fishermen, a pickaxe 25% for miners, a laptop 30% for developers, and a briefcase adds 10% to any job.

What can I buy, and what are the limits?

/shop view carries food, tools, vehicles, property, collectibles, upgrades and special items, and /shop buy purchases them. Prices run from a 50-coin apple to a 5,000,000-coin crown, and each row shows the economy level it needs.

  • at most 10 units per purchase;
  • at most 100 of one item type;
  • 20 inventory slots, each Inventory Upgrade adding 5, and at most 3 upgrades at 10,000 coins each.

Consumables are used with /use: food and drink restore HP or energy, the upgrade expands your slots, lottery tickets and mystery boxes roll a prize (up to 5 per use).

Can I sell things back?

Yes. Every catalog row has a listed refund price, which is half of what it cost, and selling pays exactly that. The marketplace Sell button in Discord and the Sell button in your website inventory both release one item at a time, so the number you see is the number you get.

Can I give coins or items to another member?

/give money sends coins and /give item sends something from your inventory. You cannot give to yourself or to a bot, and a transfer above 5,000 coins loses 10% tax, so the recipient sees the net amount. Both sides keep a record of the transfer.

What are the mystery boxes that appear in chat?

A claimable box appears in general chat on a repeating hourly cycle. The first member to press Claim takes it; everyone else is told it is gone. The prize is usually coins, and some boxes add server levels on top — when one does, the level-up is announced in the levels channel.

06

Purchasable Discord roles

Prices, swaps, refunds, free access

What do purchasable roles cost?

Every purchasable role costs 250,000 coins, in all four categories: Persona, Gradient Colours, Cute roles and Anime roles. The price shown is the price charged, whether you buy in Discord or on this site.

Can I hold several roles in one category?

One at a time per category. Choosing a second role in the same category swaps you over: the old role is released and refunded, the new one is charged, so your balance moves by exactly one price and you are never billed twice for a change of taste.

Categories are independent, so you can hold one Persona, one Gradient, one Cute and one Anime role at the same time.

Can I give a role back?

Yes. Releasing a role removes it from your Discord profile and refunds exactly what you paid for it. If you got the role free as a booster or donor, the refund is nothing, because the charge was nothing.

Is anything free?

Server boosters and members holding a Patreon donor tier take any role in these categories without spending coins. The donor tiers themselves — Haven, Elysium, Nova and Donor — are support rewards and are never sold for coins.

The Discord shop and the website shop — are they the same account?

They are one system. The item catalog, the role price, your balance, your inventory and which roles you own all live on the bot, and both doors read and write that same record. A purchase made in the Discord marketplace shows up in your website wallet immediately, and the other way around.

Both doors also follow the same rules: the same level gate, the same 10-unit cap, the same refund price, and one purchase cannot be charged twice even if you click it twice or press it from both places at once.

I paid but the role is not on my profile.

Open the shop panel again first: it reads your current balance and ownership, so a stale panel can look unchanged. If the shop says you own it and Discord does not show it, open a support ticket with the role name and roughly when you bought it, and staff will re-sync it.

07

Leaderboards

Level, economy and community boards

What does the website leaderboard show?

They are two separate pages, and neither one contains a piece of the other: the leaderboard page shows your own level with its XP progress and rank plus the ranked list of members, and the birthdays page shows the upcoming calendar with the editor for your own date. Each page loads only its own list, so a busy level service never hides the calendar and vice versa, and one visit no longer asks Discord for the member list twice. Levels are claimed from the wallet menu, not from the leaderboard page. You need to be signed in to see either; the ranking is the community one.

The lists are read from Discord every time, so a page can occasionally say the service is busy. It asks again on its own, and pressing Refresh asks for a fresh read; nothing about your level or your date changes while it waits.

How is the level board ordered?

The owner is always first — the account that owns the server and whoever holds its Owner role. After that the board runs by level, highest first, and two members on the same level are separated by their total XP. The date an account joined only decides a complete tie, so a member who has been here for years on level 10 cannot sit above a level 200.

It is a ranking of progression, so your position does move when somebody else levels up — that is the point of the board.

Are there other boards?

Yes, and they are separate from the leveling board: /leaderboard ranks the coin economy, and the server keeps posting periodic leaderboard cards in #Leaderboard. Media engagement is its own thing — likes and replies on each post in the media wall.

Why is a member missing from the board?

The board only ranks people who are still in the server, and bots are left out entirely. If the member list cannot be read, the page says the board is unavailable instead of showing you a half-populated ranking. Board data can also be a few minutes behind, because it is cached.

08

Media & community content

Posting, categories, likes, replies

What can I post on the media wall?

Anything you made or want to share, filed under one of the seven categories: Art, Stream, Anime, Gaming, Quotes, Photography and General. A post carries a title, a description and one image or clip.

Are there file limits?

Images up to 5 MB as PNG, JPEG, WebP or GIF. Videos up to 50 MB as MP4, WebM, MOV or MKV. Anything larger or in another format is refused before it is stored, with the reason shown in the composer.

Do I need to sign in to post or react?

Reading the wall is open. Creating a post, liking, replying and liking a reply all sign you in as yourself, so the site asks for Discord sign-in at that moment and brings you back to the post afterwards.

How do likes and replies work?

A like is a toggle: press it again to take it back, and the count follows. Replies sit under the post as their own thread and each reply can be liked too. Replying to a reply keeps the conversation in the right place rather than flattening it.

Can I remove something I posted?

Yes — your own posts and your own replies have a delete action, and it disappears from the wall straight away. Staff can also remove content that breaks the rules, and can restore a post they or you removed, so the removal itself stays on record.

Does posting earn anything?

Publishing a new post adds one server level, awarded once per day — the first post you share settles it, and anything later the same day is wall content without another level. The wall confirms it in a message right after the post appears. Beyond that, likes and replies are the reward.

What is the reviews section on the homepage?

It is a wall of community feedback about Calmhaven, shown on the homepage and moderated by staff. It is separate from media posts and from support tickets: reviews are public opinions, tickets are private conversations with staff.

09

Birthdays

Registering, editing, what others see

How do I add my birthday?

Either way you prefer:

  • /birthday set in Discord, answering privately. Accepted formats are YYYY-MM-DD, DD/MM/YYYY, DD-MM-YYYY, DD.MM.YYYY, or just day and month as DD/MM or MM-DD.
  • The birthday editor on the birthdays page, which writes to the same record.

Because both use one list, setting it in Discord makes it appear on the site and vice versa.

Who sees my birthday, and what do they see?

Registering is a private action, and the lists members can browse show the day and month only, never the year. /birthday view shows your own record, /birthday leaderboard shows upcoming birthdays, and the site shows the same upcoming list.

The site list is read from Discord every time, so it can occasionally say the service is busy — Discord refused the member read for a second. The page asks again on its own, and nothing about anybody's date changes while it does.

What happens on the day?

The day is worked out in Europe/Berlin time. On the date, the bot posts birthday wishes in #Birthday Corner, mentions the celebration role, and gives you a one-day birthday role. The check runs hourly, so the wish lands on the first pass after midnight rather than at an exact second.

How do I change or remove it?

Setting a new date replaces the old one. /birthday delete, or the same action in the website editor, takes it off the list entirely and the celebrations stop. Members who have left the server are dropped from the announcement run, so a departed account is not wished at.

10

Live chat, inbox & tickets

Website chat rooms, support requests

How does the website chat work?

Live chat is open to read without signing in. The Global room is the community one and is available to everyone; the staff rooms only appear in the tab bar for members who hold the matching access. Sending a message as yourself needs a Discord sign-in.

Why was my chat message blocked?

The chat applies a word filter for harassment, slurs and targeted abuse, and a message that trips it is not posted. Server rules apply here exactly as they do in Discord.

How do I open a support ticket from the website?

Account menu → Contact support. Choose a category, write a subject and describe the problem, then send. The ticket appears in your inbox, and opening it gives you a thread where staff reply and you can add more detail.

Is a ticket private?

Yes. A ticket is only visible to you and to staff working the queue, and the inbox shows your own tickets. That is the place for anything that names a person or shares evidence, rather than posting it in public chat.

How long does an answer take?

Calmhaven is run by volunteers across time zones, so there is no promised response time. Say everything you need in the first message rather than sending several tickets — one thread is easier to work through than three.

11

Team, presence & live stats

What the homepage numbers mean

Where do the homepage stat numbers come from?

Total Members and Online Now come from Discord's public invite information for this server, and the page refreshes them on a timer rather than counting anything itself. Active Channels uses the channel list that this server's public widget publishes, with categories excluded; while the server keeps that list private, the card shows a decorative highlight figure instead of a measured count.

A stat card shows a dash instead of a number.

That means Discord did not answer this visit — usually a rate limit — not that the value is zero. The last good number is kept for five minutes, and the page retries on its own shortly after, so a reload usually fixes it.

The fourth card, Server Status, is a fixed label rather than a live reading, so it does not change with the others.

How is the Team section built?

The crew cards on the homepage are the staff list maintained alongside the server roles, each with the person's display name, role and banner. It is curated rather than automatic, so a member with a cosmetic colour role never appears in it.

What does live presence show?

The roster beside live chat is built from presence heartbeats: signed-in members who are on the page right now, each with the status they chose for themselves — online, idle, do-not-disturb or invisible. A member who closes the tab drops off within about a minute and a half. It is the website roster, not your Discord online status.

12

Privacy & security

What is stored, who can see it

Do I get asked for a password or a token?

Never. Sign-in hands you to Discord and comes back with your identity; this site has no password field and stores no password. Staff will never ask you for a password, a token or a 2FA code either — if anyone does, it is not Calmhaven.

What does Calmhaven keep about me?

Your Discord user id and public profile, so the site can recognise you and show your name and avatar on what you post; the nickname and website avatar you chose; the media, likes and replies you made; your tickets and their thread; and the progress that belongs to the community systems — server level, economy balance, inventory, roles you bought and your birthday entry.

Which cookies does the website use?

One session cookie that the browser hides from page scripts and only sends over an encrypted connection, a token used to prove that a write came from you rather than from another site, and two short-lived helpers that exist only while you are being redirected to Discord and back. Sign-out clears the session.

Who can see what I do?

Media posts, likes, replies and public chat are visible to anyone who opens those pages, signed in or not. Tickets are private between you and staff. Your coin balance, inventory, level and birthday record are not broadcast: they show in your own wallet and on the ranked boards, which list members by level.

What happens when content is removed?

A removed post or reply disappears from the wall immediately. Because staff can restore something that was taken down in error, the removal itself — who made it and when — stays on the moderation record rather than vanishing completely.

Why did the site tell me to wait?

Writes are limited per account inside a one-minute window, so a runaway script or an impatient click cannot flood the wall, the chat or the ticket queue. Wait the short while the message names and try again. Discord applies its own limits to the community stats and to the bot, which is why a number or a command sometimes says unavailable for a moment.

Can my data be deleted?

Yes. Delete your own posts and replies from the wall, remove your birthday with /birthday delete, release a purchased role to get the coins back, and open a support ticket for anything left — an account record, a review, or history you cannot reach yourself. Say which Discord account you are so staff can find the right record.

Who else is involved behind these features?

Discord provides sign-in, avatars and the public counts on the homepage; verification in the Verification channel runs through One-Tap; media and chat are stored and served by the site's hosting providers; Patreon and Buy Me a Coffee handle voluntary support. Each of those has its own privacy policy.

13

Commands & server tools

Slash commands, the marketplace, reactions

How do I find the commands?

Type / in any text channel you can write in and Discord lists the commands the bot offers there, with each option labelled. Commands you are not allowed to use stay listed but greyed out, so an unavailable option usually means a permission or a channel restriction, not a broken bot.

Which commands run the economy?

The everyday ones are /work, /daily, /weekly, /monthly, /balance, /shop view, /shop buy, /inventory, /use, /give money, /give item, /job list, /job choose and /achievements. Buying a role is not a command — it happens through the private Market panel in Discord or the Shop panel in your account menu on this website, and both read the same catalog, because the website asks the bot rather than keeping its own shop. There is no /sell command; selling is the Sell button on the marketplace row or in your website inventory.

What about level, birthday and profile commands?
  • /rank shows your server level and progress; /leaderboard shows the top of the server, and the website page shows the same progression — the daily level itself is claimed from the Daily Level row in the wallet menu.
  • /birthday covers set, view, delete and the birthday leaderboard — details in Birthdays.
  • Profile nickname and server-side decorations are set in Discord itself; the website's profile editor only changes what the website displays.
Are there moderation or utility commands?

Yes — /avatar, /search, /confession, the social reactions and the game commands are open to members, while the staff-only ones (role panels, application panels, cleanup and moderation actions) are restricted to the people running the server. Two things members often ask about are not commands at all: the starboard is driven by reactions, and the role panel is a set of buttons. Staff applications are posted by staff into the application channel.

Do voice channels earn anything?

Server levels grow from voice time as well as text, counted per minute with a short cooldown between credits, so idling in an empty channel does not stack rewards. Voice does not pay Coins — that comes from the economy commands and from posting on the wall.

Can I play with the bot?

The fun commands — slots, roulette, coin flip and the rest — bet the same Coins your balance is made of, so treat them as a way to spend, not a way to earn. The mystery box is separate: it drops into general chat on its own and the first member to claim it takes the prize.

14

Troubleshooting

Refusals, timeouts, missing numbers

The site says I am not a member of the server.

Levels, birthdays, coins and roles live in the Discord server, so anything that writes to them first checks that your Discord account is actually in Calmhaven. If you joined with a second account, signed out of Discord in another browser tab, or left and rejoined, sign out of the website and sign in again with the account that is in the server. Joining the server at all is the fix if you have never been in it.

A purchase or claim was refused — why?

Each rule produces its own message, and the usual ones are:

  • not enough Coins, or the item needs a higher economy level than you have;
  • the reward is still on cooldown — daily, weekly, monthly, the daily level and work each have their own timer;
  • your inventory is full, you already hold 100 of that item, or the upgrade limit is reached;
  • a role you already own, or one in a category you already hold — buy the new one instead and the old one is refunded and replaced;
  • the balance cap or the per-purchase quantity limit.

Nothing is charged when the rule refuses the action.

A purchase timed out. Will retrying charge me twice?

No. Every purchase carries a request identifier, and the bot remembers the outcome of each one for a day. Pressing the same action again after a slow response returns the recorded result instead of running it a second time, and operations on one account are queued so two clicks cannot spend the same coins twice. If the item or role really is missing after that, the roles answer explains what to check, then open a ticket.

My upload was rejected.

The wall accepts PNG, JPEG, WebP and GIF up to 5 MB, and MP4, WebM or MOV up to 50 MB. Anything else — a HEIC straight from a phone, an audio file, a screenshot archive — is refused before it is stored, and the message names the limit you crossed. Re-export or compress the file rather than renaming it; the check reads the real type.

A number shows — or says unavailable.

Anything that reads Discord or the bot can fail from outside this site: Discord rate-limits the public statistics, and the level, birthday and economy panels depend on the bot being online. A dash means the last value could not be read; the homepage keeps the newest number that did arrive and refreshes it on its own, and the leaderboards retry on the next visit. It is a temporary gap, not a lost count.

The page looks wrong or a button does nothing.

The site caches its own files so repeat visits are fast, which means a browser can hold an older copy of a page for one more visit after an update. Reload the page, and if a control still does nothing, close the tab and open it again — the fresh load pulls the current version. Signed-out visitors also see fewer controls: the account menu, wallet and posting tools only appear after sign-in.

I am still stuck. Where do I ask?

For anything quick, say it in the live chat or the community's help channel in Discord. For anything about your own account — coins, a role that did not arrive, a post to remove — open a support ticket so the details stay private. Include the Discord name, roughly when it happened, and the exact wording of any message you got; a screenshot of the error is the fastest way to an answer.

Still need a hand?

The people who run Calmhaven are in the server every day. Ask in chat, or open a ticket when it is about your account.
